8 Crazy and Bizarre YouTube Channels

Everyone can admit to wasting away in front of their computer screen watching YouTube videos. Here is a list of some of the most creative YouTubers who might inspire you to do more than watch and instead try to create as well. And if not, you can YouTube with a friend and wallow in envy together – there’s power in numbers!
This list is highly subjective so feel free to add your favorites in the comments!

1. Pomplamoose

Pomplamoose is an incredibly inspiring duo/couple made up of Nataly Dawn and Jack Conte. They use the concept of a VideoSong in which every sound that is heard in the song is seen in the video at some point. They often use visual effects to represent special audio effects. Furthermore, they play all the instruments and edit the videos themselves. That’s a lot of creativity squished into little 5 minute videos! If it doesn’t make you want to just jump up and try to remember how to play Chopsticks, then nothing will.
This is the first example of their VideoSong format and it was a very successful venture from the beginning:

2. Phil in the Circle

Phil in the Circle This guy is incredible. And possibly inhuman. Phil Hansen is an artist who uses everything and anything to create art, typically portraits of popular figures. There’s so much to say about him but it’s best to just watch and feel your jaw drop at the end product. Watch the video below and then assess just how inadequate you feel.

3. Val’s Art Diary

Val’s Art Diary is a little bit quirky but she produces really good work consistently and when she breaks down the meanings of paintings, you really understand the intent behind each thing she does. She is a serious artist, it’s very obvious from her output. However, she makes art approachable, fun, and interesting because of her personality. Furthermore, she uses YouTube as a means of promoting her artwork and getting possible buyers interested which is a creative and modern business approach which is just as inspiring as her work.

4. AgentXPQ’s Tales of Mere Existence

This is by far one for the most creative uses of a YouTube channel. AgentXPQ’s Tales of Mere Existence is a collection of short films in which the artist, Lev Yilmaz, illustrates what he deems “stuff you think but don’t talk about”. With his droll monotone and quick sketching, you immediately identify his style. His poignant observations are almost always relatable but he can sometimes leave you in an existential crisis due to his dry and melancholic sense of humor – beware!

5. Crabstickz

This UK YouTuber is a highly talented comedian who comes up with odd and awkward humor. WhileCrabstickz is a little bit rude, his impressions are almost always spot on and hilarious and he creates great characters and stories.
You can see just how creative he is based on the amount of things he can do with a single tube:

6. Wheezy Waiter

Craig is an amazingly consistent and funny YouTuber who creates an actual world into which a viewer is drawn simply because of the inside jokes and the familiarity of the video format: he wheels in on his chair, the angel music from his floor plays, he says: “Hello Beard-lovers”, says a few funny, pensive or informative things, plays the intro, on to the content, then closes out with a wink and the jingle. It’s warm, comfy and entertaining – one feels a sense of investment when watching because you have to make sure you keep up with the inside jokes and that’s rewarding in and of itself. What’s inspiring is that he does these videos in the morning before heading off to work.
Furthermore he has certain rules such as at least one different camera angle per video and he includes his “clones” in almost every video, regularly punching himself in the face and killing the clones. If you have never edited video before, perhaps you cannot fully appreciate just how much time it take to sync the audio, video and other effects with the correct section of video. This is an enormous investment of time and energy for mornings before heading off to work – and great motivation to go out and do your own side project.

7. Mystery Guitar Man

Speaking of editing, Mystery Guitar Man pieces together audio and video to make songs with his guitar and vocals forming the beats and melody. Just watching the videos can be exhausting – think of all the effort involved!

Honorable Mention:

8. Hi I’m Rawn

This one is highly subjective but I find Rawn’s quirky, offbeat sense of humor and style incredibly appealing and inspiring just in the whole aesthetic of his uploads and how he has them filmed.
